DLA Energy establishes new fuel support arrangement with Australia to fortify Pacific readiness
The agreement directly advances U.S. Pacific Command theater campaign priorities amid a heightened War Department focus on posture and resilience in the Pacific.
The arrangement allows for the storage and terminaling of DLA Energy-owned aviation fuel at Royal Australian Air Force bases. Acting in conjunction with an established fuel exchange agreement with Australia, the new arrangement modernizes mutual logistics processes, expands critical fuel availability and fosters closer collaboration between the two partner nations.
“This fuel implementing arrangement, established under Acquisition and Cross-Service Agreement authority, is the culmination of five years of successful bilateral collaboration,” said Michael Holgate, who leads the DLA Energy International Agreements Team within Bulk Petroleum Supply Chain Services. “ACSAs are utilized by the DoW globally to acquire or provide logistics support, supplies and services directly to or from foreign partner nations.”
Holgate's team is dedicated to establishing and maintaining these long-term fuel arrangements, currently managing 44 worldwide. The International Agreements Team works in synchronization with DLA Energy regional offices to provide a global capability to meet emerging fuel requirements.
The day-to-day administration of this new arrangement will be managed by the International Agreements Team in the DLA Energy Pacific office in Honolulu, in coordination with DLA Energy Pacific South-West in Guam.
"To have been on the ground in uniform when this project was just an operational concept, and now to see it fully realized at the strategic level, is profoundly rewarding,” said John Reed, DLA Energy Pacific operations branch chief. “This arrangement is more than just a logistical milestone; it’s a critical enabler for our forces and a testament to the ironclad partnership between the U.S. and Australia. We are fundamentally transforming our posture and resilience in the Pacific."
DLA Energy plays a crucial role in ensuring U.S. forces have access to fuel worldwide, whether they are conducting coalition exercises, providing humanitarian support or executing strategic missions. By understanding customer requirements and delivering tailored solutions, DLA Energy ensures warfighters have reliable and efficient fuel sources in an increasingly complex global environment.
